Lenox House lies close to two English Nature reserves that offer excellent walks. One extends north over the cliff tops and down to the attractive beach-side village of Kingsdown with the town of Deal a little further on. The other, to the south, passes the South Foreland Lighthouse and takes you over the cliff tops to Dover with it's magnificent castle. Both offer splendid views across the channel. If the shore-side appeals, the area offers sandy dune-backed beaches through to rock-pools backed by towering cliffs - and everything in between.
History lovers will not be disappointed either. The area has been an important transit point and defensive site throughout the ages - Anglo-Saxon, Roman, Norman and Napoleanic periods are all well represented - sometimes in the same place (Dover Castle for example).
This extends right through to more recent times including the 2nd World War with the rooms used by Admiral Ramsay for controlling the Dunkirk evacuation now open to visitors.
Feeling sporty? Take your pick from golf, fishing, watersports, cycling, riding and many more.
